In May 2026, members of the Oswald team will be working with communities in Peterborough to explore the history and legacy of Oswald of Northumbria in the city. Oswald was the most important saint in medieval Peterborough – his most important relic, his miraculously incorrupt right arm – was housed in Peterborough Abbey (now Cathedral) – and we’ll be asking what he means for different people in the city today.
All are welcome to join us for two public events:
- 15th May, 1pm, Peterborough Cathedral: Oswald of Northumbria in Words and Music. An informal event in the Cathedral with professional musicians and pupils from Peterborough schools, including a live performance of My Name is Oswald.
- 20th May, 6.30pm: Oswald of Northumbria in Medieval Europe. An in-person talk with Prof. Sarah Bowden. Details and booking here.
